The Sr. Communications Specialist works to support the development and execution of our communication strategy, measure its success, and enhance corporate initiatives. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, customer-focused, passionate, high-energy, organized, detail-oriented, willing to create a new path in corporate communication, and foster a spirit of teamwork and chemistry among internal stakeholders by contributing to the workplace culture that aligns with Spark’s values and goals. The Sr. Communications Specialist will support the efforts of the overall Communications & Community Engagement team in the areas of HR and DEI, and our scientific and patient supply comms as well as support various company-wide comms and community events. This position will be based in Philadelphia, PA.

Job Function and Description

30%

Support the execution of an internal communication strategy and plan. Drive the creation and publication of a wide variety of materials including, but not limited to, presentations, email messages, online content, digital signs, and newsletters. Source and write unique stories of Spark business activities for use internally as well as externally.

 

Measure impact and work cross-functionally to support evolution of growing organization.

 

Contribute to the successful delivery of internal employee engagement events including meetings and company milestone celebrations.

Supports programs in an effort to enhance our external reputation and external reputation and thought leadership, by developing press releases, digital/social content, and managing internal and external events. Contribute to the execution of corporate and disease awareness initiatives to further company goals and objectives. Develop and execute plans around employee engagement in the community as aligned to corporate strategy and our mission and vision.

Work with Human Resources team—Total Rewards, Employee Engagement, Talen Acquisition, etc.—to develop and execute communications that are highly engaging to internal audiences.

Work with Diversity Equity and Inclusion team to develop and execute communications to nurture Spark’s unique culture through high-impact employee engagement and external communications.

Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration among internal stakeholders by contributing to the workplace culture that aligns with Spark’s values and goals.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
     
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in corporate communications at a biotech or pharmaceutical company, academic institution, healthcare organization, PR agency, or related position.
     
  • Strong writing/editing skills
     
  • Excellent judgement, with big-picture ‘systems thinking’ ability

 

  • Proactive and anticipatory style; identifies and solves problems in advance
  •  
  • Working knowledge of design editing software a plus
     
  • Experience working with multiple CMS platforms

 

  • Experience within multiple social media platforms (content creation and analytics)

 

  • Facilitate reporting of metrics
