Be part of a communications team with a driving ambition to break down barriers for patients and families affected by debilitating genetic diseases. The Senior Communications Specialist will work in lock-step with the Corporate Communication Leads to support the development and execution of our communication strategy, measure its success, and enhance corporate initiatives. This may include supporting our work in community engagement and corporate giving. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, passionate, high energy, organized, detail-oriented, and willing to create a new path in corporate communications. This position will be based in Philadelphia, PA.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

40%

Support the execution of an internal communication strategy and plan. Drive the creation and publication of a wide variety of materials including, but not limited to, presentations, email messages, online content, digital signs, and a weekly newsletter. Source and write unique stories of Spark business activities for use internally as well as externally.

Measure impact and work cross-functionally to support evolution of growing organization.

Contribute to the successful delivery of internal employee engagement events including meetings and company milestone celebrations.

 

40% 

Support the execution of our external reputation and product communications, which may include media relations, developing press releases digital/social content, and event management. Contribute to the execution of corporate and disease awareness initiatives to further company goals and objectives. Develop and execute plans around employee engagement in the community as aligned to corporate strategy and our mission and vision.

 

10%

Support Spark’s community engagement strategy and donation activities. Ensure that internal and external audiences understand Spark’s aspirations and achievements in community engagement through media relations, developing press releases, digital/social content, and volunteer event management.

Work in partnership with other functions, (e.g., Corporate Services, Patient Advocacy and Patient Services to nurture Spark’s unique culture through high-impact employee engagement and external communications.

 Foster a spirit of teamwork and chemistry among internal stakeholders by contributing to the workplace culture that aligns with Spark’s values and goals.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in corporate communications at a biotech or pharmaceutical company, academic institution, healthcare organization, PR agency, or related position.
  • Extensive hands on experience with the creation and delivery of digital communications including content creation, management and publishing.
