Join the Spark Team

We were born of innovation, springing from the curiosity, imagination and dedication of remarkable scientists and healthcare visionaries. Our shared mission is to challenge the inevitability of genetic disease by discovering, developing, and delivering treatments in ways unimaginable – until now.

We don’t follow footsteps. We create the path.

The AD Analytical Scientist will play a key role in AD Structural Characterization team. The focus of the group is to characterize candidate vectors in support of defining critical quality attributes to develop appropriate control strategies for each asset. He/she will function as an Analytical Scientist in the group to establish state of the art biophysical capabilities in AD and generate structural insight into each gene therapy asset in support of regulatory filings and clinical trials. He/she will also support upstream and downstream process development as needed, participate in process characterization/validation work, collaborate with analytical science and QC teams to develop SOPs and transfer the developed assays to teams as needed. We are looking for scientists who are truly inspired by our mission and who would share our passion for our collaborative and entrepreneurial work culture.

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop new or optimize existing and state of the art physico-chemical characterization methods based on knowledge of biological, biochemical and biophysical techniques to support rAAV process development and product characterization
  • Conduct experiments to support analytical, process and technology development, to deliver reliable high-quality data and prepare experimental reports in a timely manner
  • Write and edit internal technical reports, quality documents, relevant regulatory submission sections and HA query responses
  • Participate in and/or lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve technical and scientific issues
  • Manage critical samples and prepare critical assay reagents as needed
  • Maintain good documentation with high level of detail
  • Interface and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Influence the external environment through publications and conference presentations
