The New Product Planning Associate will be responsible for providing analytical insights and operational support for the New Product Planning Group. Working with the New Product Planning Leads, bring customer insights and market knowledge to shape the profile of Spark’s current gene therapy pipeline for commercial success and assess new disease and external opportunities.


The New Product Planning Associate will work closely New Product Planning Leads and other members of the Portfolio Planning and Management Team as well as colleagues from Commercial Development, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, HEOR, Medical, Clinical Development, Research, R&D Operations and Business Development functions.

Job Function and Description








Provide commercial support for early-stage pipeline programs

  • Work on the development and validation of target product profiles, prepare market assessments and patient journey analysis
  • Coordinate research with physicians (with Clinical Development), payers (with Pricing & Reimbursement) and patients (with Patient Advocacy Group) to address other questions impacting the program and key decisions
  • Liaise with Corporate Strategy & Analytics to develop, assess and update commercial forecasts and sensitivity analyses for internal and potential new/external programs
  • Liaise with Corporate Strategy & Analytics to provide competitive intelligence on competitive landscape, potential product differentiation, and as input for pre-clinical and clinical program design
  • Work on business case for life-cycle management opportunities  



Drive commercial assessments of new targets, diseases or technologies and support assessment of external Business Development opportunities and present recommendations to Team


Take the lead on congress activities for pipeline assets




Oversee internal processes and platforms required to support New Product Planning, including market research review processes and archives, competitive information databases, contracts with market research vendors, as well as planning and budgeting activities.


Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA required, preferably in a scientific discipline
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Generally has 5-8 years’ experience post college in Pharma or Biotech commercial, marketing or consulting roles
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with R&D
  • Experience in customer insight projects and commercial assessments preferred

Experience in rare disease and gene therapy an advantage
