Support the R&D Assay Lead in the day-to-day technical operation of the translational lab across all the therapeutic areas (Liver, CNS, Ocular, Discovery and Assay Development)

  • Perform routine bioanalytical assays across the different pipeline programs (e.g. ELISA, cell-based NAb assay, etc.).
  • Participate in implementing new assays or optimizing existing assays based on knowledge of laboratory techniques.
  • Participate in validation/qualification of bioanalytical assays.
  • Work with senior staff to ensure the availability of adequate laboratory materials and qualify new reagents, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and detailed records of work.
  • Ensure optimal interactions across functions.
  • Champion all safety aspects in the Translational Laboratories.

Plan, prepare and perform experiments on the bench in support of the translational department goals. 

Analyze and troubleshoot experiments; consult with supervisor to ensure accuracy.

Maintain proper documentation of experiments performed.

Assist technical staff in the performance of laboratory experiments as needed

Participate in lab reagent inventory across assay groups and translational research.

Manage translational research samples and materials.

Stay current with all required lab safety and compliance training

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Generally has a minimum of 0-3 years laboratory experience.
  • Broad knowledge of basic lab techniques and equipment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with cell culture and bioanalytical assays such as ELISA, cell-based assays and enzymatic assays.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as plasmid preparation, DNA cloning, and qPCR.
  • Experience with AAV vectors is a plus
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills of technical issues; develop solutions to a variety of moderate problems; discuss with supervisor and refer to policies/practices for guidance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and willing to adapt to meet team goals.
  • Keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Must be comfortable in the fast-paced, biotech start-up environment and interact with multi-disciplinary research teams at Spark.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
