Primary Duties

The Research Associate will be part of the Immunomonitoring Team, supporting multiple fast-paced non-clinical and clinical studies for advancing novel gene therapy programs across all Therapeutic Areas. The position requires strong scientific and technical skills in performing and troubleshooting immunoassays, with assay development and validation experience strongly desired.

 

The Research Associate will:

  • Perform peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) isolations from whole blood per SOPs
  • Perform immunological analyses, with a focus on immunospot assays
  • Conduct clinical and preclinical sample analysis per SOPs and generate data with high scientific quality and proper documentation to meet GLP regulatory expectations and requirements
  • Participate in development and validation of bioanalytical assays such as immunoassays and cell-based assays
  • With guidance, implement new assays or optimize existing assays based on in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques
  • Assist with documentation tasks, including SOP and report writing and review
  • Participate in sample management activities as needed, including receiving, processing, storage and shipping clinical and preclinical samples
  • Work with senior staff to ensure the availability of adequate laboratory materials and qualify new reagents as needed
  • Participate in instrument maintenance and qualification
  • Maintain accurate inventories of clinical and preclinical samples
  • Update internal clinical data summaries
  • Maintain accurate, timely and detailed records of work

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS in biological sciences required
  • Minimum 3 years relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience preferred

 

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Hands-on experience performing tissue culture, ELISA, ELISPOT, FluoroSpot, flow cytometry and/or related cell-based immunoassays preferred
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently after initial training as well as being a contributing member of a team; possess self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills
  • Keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.  Familiarity of Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) a plus
  • Experience with good documentation practices (GDP) preferred
  • Understanding of GLP principles strongly desired
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality assay performance and results
