Primary Duties:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing all local capital requests, approvals, and execution of projects under $10MM. The PM, who will manage multiple projects simultaneously, is responsible for forming teams, developing project plans that align with project objectives, communicating & reporting (costs, cash spend, forecasts, schedules, scopes of work, performance, startup and CQV) according to good project management practices. The PM will interact with end users in R&D/Tech Dev/Manufacturing Operations, the Capital Project Mgmt. Team, the Facilities Teams, Procurement/Finance and 3rd Party Vendors. The role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and on budget.

 

Responsabilities:

  • Manage cross-functional teams (local team, external vendors, and contractors) and activities leading to the successful execution of project
  • Develop standard metrics and dashboards to track project scope, schedule, and budget relative to the established baseline
  • Develop and implement project plans, justification, budgets, and schedules
  • Develop a standard approach for Lab based projects in R&D/Tech Dev/QC
  • Provide guidance during planning and execution phases of the entire project lifecycle.
  • Coordinates recruitment or assignment of project personnel including assignment of duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, communicate and mitigate project risks
  • Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Regularly studies the budget and costing of the project to ensure that costs are controlled. Analyzes and reports project performance metrics as requested
  • Reports actual to budgets
  • Coordinate project team activities with internal teams, report progress and close out the project.
  • Communicate across functional and leadership teams to inform them of project status, communicate risks, elevate issues, present recommendations, and implement modifications to project plans where necessary.
  • Where appropriate ensure GMP compliance throughout all project phases
  • Responsible for maintaining current and complete project management data and documents in enterprise systems
  • Other duties as requested or assigned by management.

 

Education & Experience:

  • BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required. 
  • 8+ years’ experience in project management. Experience in a cGMP environment is essential.
  • Previous experience working in R&D/Mfg facilities
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements regarding safety, hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Working knowledge of GXP compliance as well as ICH and FDA guidelines.

  • Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met.

 

Internal and External Contacts:

Frequent contact with internal personnel, building personnel and vendors that includes, but it is not limited to participation in briefings, technical & brainstorming sessions, projects meetings, etc. In particular, the PM will interact with end users in R&D/Tech Dev/Manufacturing Operations, the Capital Project Mgmt. Team, the Facilities Teams, Procurement/Finance and 3rd Party Vendors. The PM will have one direct report for Planning/Scheduling project and site activities. In Spark, vendor relationship is managed through Procurement & Legal. The PM will partner with these groups and manage the technical relationship with the vendors.

 

Other Job Requirements:

  • Infrequent travel maybe required for 3rd party vendor meetings and also assume travel between all local Spark Facilities, 3737 Market St, 3025 Market St and 3000 Market St(when complete).
  • Availability to respond to project and facility emergencies during weekends, Spark half-day Fridays (as applicable), and/or company holidays.
