Primary Duties

 

The Ocular Research group of Spark Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support the execution of all ocular in vivo and in vitro studies, by coordinating the logistical components of projects with Ocular scientists, and internal and external resources. The candidate will be responsible for assisting with study planning, scheduling, creating and distributing documents necessary to complete each study, as well as hands on assistance with sample shipping/receiving, inventory management, and maintaining/drafting general procedures, methods and templates for the Ocular Team.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Interact directly with the Ocular team, the Vivo team, the Histology team, the Research Vector Core and other research-related entities to coordinate activities during the full study life cycle.
  • Assist investigators (e.g. study directors, study monitors, scientists, etc.) with preparation, review and circulation of documents necessary to complete each study.
  • Organize study tracking documents.
  • Maintain complete, organized, accessible, and current study files including study contracts, protocols, invoices, and other applicable documents and correspondence.
  • Respond to internal and external queries during the study.
  • Coordinate and perform shipping/receiving and timeline coordination.
  • Maintain an up-to-date electronic inventory for common Ocular Team items
  • Compile, organize and assist with drafting of general procedures, methods, and templates.
  • Assist with equipment-related tasks, including organizing on-side training, scheduling installation and maintenance.
  • Assist with onboarding, by training new hires on processes in place within the Ocular Team and across the organization.

Assist Ocular scientists in the implementation of in vivo and in vitro ocular studies.

Coordinate the logistical components of projects with Ocular scientists, and internal and external resources

        Coordinate sample shipping/receiving, inventory and documentation efforts in accordance with guidelines and regulations

Participate in meetings and activities related to research, including weekly lab meetings and small group research meetings. Provide system operation training to new staff, as needed.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • BA/BS in Biological sciences required, Master’s in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or contract research organization (CRO).  
  • Experience with laboratory animal research and biological sciences and project management is desired.
  • Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills, and effective time management
  • Understanding of gene therapy in vivo/in vitro related procedures is preferred.
  • Experience interacting with CROs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Sharepoint/Microsoft Teams and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a preferred.
