We are seeking a research scientist who will play a key role in supporting the development of NGS workflows for characterization of viral vector-based therapies.  S/he will be a scientific contributor to the development of methods and capable of working on challenges of moderate complexity under regular supervision from more senior scientist.  S/he will perform DNA extraction of recombinant vectors from AAV therapeutics, library preparations for single-stranded and double stranded DNA for short and long read sequencing technologies (e.g., Illumina, Oxford Nanopore Technology), obtain supporting data from Nanodrop, Qubit, Tape Station, Bioanalyzer for verifying sample concentrations and integrity of extractions and library preps, and generate sequence data on Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore Technologies GridIon instruments.  Experience with automated liquid handling equipment for routine sample preparations is desired.

 

The candidate will:

  • Execute and interpret lab experiments of moderate complexity and scope under guidance of group leader or senior scientist
  • Contribute to development of a specific assay, process unit operation, or enabling technology
  • Helping with equipment / lab maintenance and sample management
  • Learning and developing new skills through on-the-job experiences
  • Working in team setting and participating in group discussions
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and detailed records of work

Requirements

BS/MS in relevant scientific or engineering field with 1 to 3 years of experience
