We are currently seeking a HVAC Utilities Specialist to join our Facilities team at our new GTIC (Gene Therapy Innovation Center). Following is an overview of the role:
Primary Duties
- Performs and documents daily rounds in accordance with GDP (GMP) and is the primary operator of all HVAC equipment, including air handlers, chillers, exhaust fans, fan coil units, HEPA fan filter units and support equipment in support of the site and clean room operations of the Gene therapy Innovation Center (GTIC).
- Monitors site EMS and BMS for system function and alarms. Responds to alarms assessing impact and generating mitigation as required.
- Works independently and in collaboration with other utility specialists and area owners to drive emergent work using the company CMMS, daily rounds, system alarm monitoring to scope and complete work in a GMP environment.
- Supports manufacturing specialist to ensure compliant clean suite operations.
- Employs conditioned based maintenance techniques as directed and maintains aseptic gowning qualification.
- Acts as utility system specialist owner, champions the maintenance of systems under management.
- Performs maintenance of HVAC systems including chillers and air handlers as needed.
- When required, acts as lead, using outside service providers, in support of large system maintenance tasks and shutdowns.
Responsibilities
- Works with maintenance planner/scheduler, metrology, asset owners and engineering to execute work as required on all HVAC and support systems, harmonized with the manufacturing schedule.
- Complete system maintenance work execution ownership, responsible for daily delivery of all heating ventilation and cooling to the business.
- Performs and/or oversees vendor and internal maintenance activities (PMs) and repairs to HVAC systems in collaboration with site EHS, Quality Assurance, Site engineering and facilities management.
- Collaborates with Spark maintenance team to supporting manufacturing suite operations as needed.
- Perform daily walk throughs and periodic inspections of HVAC utilities systems using SOPS, Work Instructions (WIs) and check lists.
- Utilize the Spark CMMS (SAP) to perform all work execution and capture all work details contemporaneously.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Must hold a class B Philadelphia engineer license.
- Must have 5 to 10 years’ experience operating air handlers (AHUs) and chiller systems in a regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of GxP Compliance, FDA guidelines and USP guidelines relevant to establishment of controlled environments in a pharmaceutical plant.
- Proficient with technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures, Function specifications and Piping and instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Familiarity with HVAC controls methodology

Spark takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary for potential new employees. The base salary range for this position is currently from $97,000 to $145,600
