Summary


The Corporate Facilities Lead is responsible for providing input to the Spark facilities strategic plan. He/she will develop and lead all design, construction and project management activities in the planning and execution of capital construction projects, new facilities and major renovation projects for non-GMP facilities. He/she will be a critical business partner across all functions to ensure functions receive adequate support in strategic decision making regarding design and maintenance of facilities and operations. He/she will support the definition and development of long range site master planning and oversee and direct space planning, operations, budgeting and management of internal departmental staff.   Manage external vendors and contractors such as real estate brokers, contractors, vendors and service providers. Collaborate with technical teams including GMP Facilities organization to accomplish corporate goals and objectives.

Interface with senior leadership to develop long term strategic planning consistent with operational strategies as it relates to lease negotiations, renewals and extensions, termination options, and construction of facilities.  Develop and recommend site selections with estimated costs for either build to suit, leased or purchased properties.  

Responsibilities

60% Facilities Management

• Space Planning and Acquisition

o Develop holistic facility and space plans aligned with the corporate mission, vision, and culture

o Manage planning of building space and allocation, collaborate with corporate functions to determine and define specific needs and space requirements, support Space Planning Committee 

o Manage lease negotiations and collaborate with Legal and Finance to execute and manage building leases

o Oversee the buildout and/or modification of building spaces and infrastructure to meet corporate strategy and needs

• Operations & Maintenance:

o Develop/manage annual O&M and Capital Improvement budgets for corporate buildings/areas, corporate building/area utilities for non-scientific areas, and corporate security

o Manage equipment and building service and maintenance contracts for non-Scientific areas. 

o Manage operational readiness for all Facilities and collaborate with Technical Operations to support GMP and laboratory operations as/where needed

o Support Technical Operations on validation master planning related to building utilities and operations as/where needed

• Administrative Services:

o Establish strategy, policies, and practices to protect and maintain the organization’s employees and physical assets

o Build, manage, and maintain security systems and coordinate internal staff and external contractors as required to maintain building access and emergency response to security issues and events

o Oversee and manage site, building, and/or area reception, office administration, mail, badging and security guard staffing 

o Build, manage, and maintain corporate facilities housekeeping and cleaning policies and standards to corporate standards and expectations, oversee contract and/or landlord external janitorial and waste management resources as/where needed

o Build, manage, and maintain facility and corporate amenities to support the growing corporate needs and site specific needs, including but not limited to, food services, cafeterias, and breakrooms, wellness rooms and centers, e.g., gym, external health and wellness services, etc.

o Provide and manage resources to support staff and operational moves and relocations as/where needed

Qualifications

• Must have strong analytical, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through

• Effective technical presentation skills

• Excellent verbal and written skills in communicating regulatory and technical information.

Requirements

• BS in a Life Science or Engineering field, e.g., Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering

• Minimum 12-15 years facilities management/operations experience with increased managerial/leadership responsibility and customer interactions in Pharma/biotech/CMO industry

• Experience leading manufacturing multi-site operations preferred

• Experience in capital project execution and management, up to and including large, complex projects valued at $50M - $100M

• Experience developing and managing capital project and facility operations budgets and reporting

• Experience with Security systems and functions in multi-facility operations, campuses, and multi-tenant facilities
