  • Work closely with Head of Business Development on various ad hoc initiatives and special projects
  • Manage aspects of operational business development workflow internally and externally including (but not limited to) the following
    • Manage engagement at external conferences (e.g. JPM, BIO, banking conferences, etc) for BD, RD, and other members of the Spark management team. Ensure one voice across Spark and Roche
    • Assist with managing Spark’s business development committee (BDC)
    • Create report templates and manage reports for ongoing BD initiatives for reporting to Head of Business Development, BDC, Spark’s CMT, and Spark’s Board
  • Track performance of deals compared to approved / executed business case in partnership with Alliance Management
  • Create and ensure adherence to BDC processes (e.g. adhering to endorsement / approval of deals, implement procedures and manage processes, in partnership with Legal, to maintain confidentiality during deal process, etc)
  • Coordinate with Communications to implement external facing communication to external companies (e.g. Spark website with messaging, etc). 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred
  • Generally, 8+ years of relevant pharma or biotech experience with demonstrated experience in BD operations and / or project management
  • Experience in a small, rapidly growing organization with responsibility for creating solutions and processes where none had existed previously preferred
  • High levels of resourcefulness, influence, organizational savvy, and execution skills are critical to the success of this individual

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships both internally (across multiple layers of seniority and across multiple line functions) and externally in the pharma, biotech and academic communities
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work productively with minimal supervision, both individually and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong understanding of the business development process and how to work across different functions within business development
