Summary

The Regional Director (RD) is responsible for the oversight, coaching, and management of the Genetic Diagnostic Leads (GDLs) within their assigned Region.  The primary responsibility is to ensure achievement of IRD genotyping and Luxturna referral objectives within the Region.  

• Responsible for the implementation of Brand strategies to ensure the attainment of National objectives.

• Must possess the ability to adapt National strategies based on Regional business drivers and influencers.

• Understands the complexity of IRD operating environment and can lead a team through the various channels and avenues that drive success.  Must be able to identify which activities are most likely to yield the desired results and coach accordingly. 

• Will be responsible for the management GDL direct reports and coordinate with a Contract Sales Organization (CSO).  Must ensure that priorities and activities are aligned across both groups. 

• Plans, organizes, leads, and controls promotional and business activities within the HCP setting to achieve referral volume and diagnostic objectives.

• Must be able to operate effectively in a matrix environment with touch-points and working relationships across multiple functions.

o Collaborates closely with Zone Leads to ensure alignment to Zone Objectives and the associated strategies/supporting tactics.

o Zone Lead feedback and strategic direction will inform decisions relating to coaching and performance management.

o Big-picture orientation with fundamental understanding of all commercial roles and responsibilities.

• Must poses the aptitude to comprehend the complexities associated with Luxturna, IRDs, and complex genetic diagnostic processes.  This knowledge will be leveraged to provide guidance, direction, and support to GDL team.

• Ability to analyze and interpret data for to provide direction and implement effective GDL strategies and good organization/time management skills.

• Will interface with key HCP stakeholders to supplement efforts of the GDL team and optimize the customer experience.

• Will direct staffing, training, and performance evaluation process for GDL team.

• Must be able to gain, prepare, and evaluate the right insights to provide meaningful input relative to the determination of market potential.

Clear and consistent communication of performance expectations and driving accountability across the Regional GDL team.

• Hiring of Regional GDL field team

• Deployment and management of Diagnostic staff

• Effective implementation of the marketing plan

• Working with field-based staff, planning and leading POA and other business meetings

• Close collaboration/alignment with Zone Lead

• Effective coaching and performance-management

• Maximize In-Role development of GDLs to strive for continuous improvement

• Maintain routine field-contact cadence with GDLs to establish coaching continuity and consistency

Strategic business planning.  

• Leverage critical-reasoning skills to build strategic plan in coordination with Zone Lead

• Collaborate with Sales-Operations and leverage all available information resources

• Provide field-level intelligence and insights to Marketing and Sales Operations teams

Qualifications

• Skilled in how and when to appropriately leverage the 5 primary types of leadership communication:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.  

• Negotiation and collaboration skills.

• Experience creating and implementing annual sales budgets and forecasts preferred.

• Candidate must demonstrate business acumen and knowledge of sales process as well as strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to effectively leverage information resources and integrate insights into a strategic plan with tactical supporting elements.

• Situational Leadership skills

• Experience collaborating with Contract Employees preferred.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree, Master’s degree preferred

• 10 years minimum total pharmaceutical, biotech or, medical commercial experience

• Minimum of years sales management experience including

• 4+ years’ sales/marketing management in the healthcare industry with

• Experience in biologics/rare diseases strongly preferred
